About

Absolute Infinity began its life in 2023 as a browser-based game. After discovering SDL and making a couple of doodles with it, I began work on a custom 2d physics simulator which I called “Project 4”. From there, I kept tacking on features until it became a fully fledged game.

Story

In the near future, humans invent the Jaunt Drive, allowing ships to travel at super luminal speeds. Hyperjaunting sparks a galaxy-exploration frenzy, but after many years of searching, only a single terraformable planet is found. This planet was known as Io. In the following decades, the old Earth powers fought fiercely to claim it, but their efforts were futile. With the help of the Alphaite Corporation, Io became united under a single flag.

In the 150 years following the founding of the Incorporated State of Io the galactic landscape shifted dramatically. The member states of the United Nations finally came together and passed the Destnia Accords, forming a political, economic, and military union called the United Destnia Assembly. Some colonies rebelled against this new power, forming the Amida Commonwealth.

By the start of the game, interstellar civilian spaceflight has become routine. Yet again, rumors are bubbling up about a habitable planet, but this time there might be some merit to them. The date is November 11, 2475. You’ve just bought your first ship, and are about to embark on an adventure that could change the galaxy as we know it…
